In addition, it is a very cost-effective option recognized and covered by many insurance companies.
“We believe effective care for your family involves gentle human touch.” We strive to make your visit as comfortable as possible while providing exceptional care tailored to your individual need.
Every “body” is a complex “machine” and when wellness “reigns” our bodies will run unencumbered for long periods of time. However, because of our modern lifestyles and excessive use, our bodies, like machines, may begin to fail and be much less productive – resulting in limited mobility, stress, and oftentimes, poor sports performance.
Here at Applewood Chiropractic we recognize that when one part of your body is not functioning properly, your entire well-being suffers. We treat you as family and you are given the uninterrupted healing time you deserve. All of us associated with Applewood Chiropractic Center Inc., believe in the power of the human touch. We welcome and encourage you to visit our office and experience for yourself the excitement of feeling like you can tackle the world – professionally, personally, and recreationally.
Most people initially visit us because they're experiencing discomfort. We are happy to address that, and once you experience what its like to have more energy, sleep better and do the things you love, you'll probably want to continue seeing us for periodic checkups. The choice is yours, and we're here to assist you in any way we can.
Massage is one of the oldest healing arts: Chinese records dating back 3,000 years document its use; the ancient Hindus, Persians and Egyptians applied forms of massage for many ailments; and Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems. Today, the benefits of massage are varied and far-reaching. As an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs, massage therapy has also proven beneficial for many chronic conditions, including low back pain, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, immunity suppression, infertility, smoking cessation, depression, and more. And, as many millions will attest, massage also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to disease and illness.
Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health. Unhealthy eating habits have contributed to the obesity epidemic in the United States: about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese. Even for people at a healthy weight, a poor diet is associated with major health risks that can cause illness and even death. These include heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer.
Some allergy problems - such as a mild case of hay fever - may not need any treatment. Sometimes allergies can be controlled with the occasional use of an over-the-counter medication. However, sometimes allergies can interfere with day-to-day activities or decrease the quality of life. Allergies can even be life threatening.
Laser therapy is the use of specific wavelengths of light to create therapeutic effects. Cell function is improved, resulting in improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreased swelling. Laser therapy offers a safe and non-invasive treatment for muscles, nerves, bones, skin, and nails. Laser energy increases circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to reduce inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, back pain and pain in general.
Car collisions are one of the leading causes of injury, responsible for 40% of injuries to the spine. Though symptoms may not show up for days, weeks or months, even a slow crash can cause problems.
If you have been in an auto accident, your body has gone through trauma that can affect you for years to come. At Applewood Chiropractic, our experienced chiropractors are trained to help you overcome these traumatic injuries.
Your spine is not meant to withstand the impact made by a car crash. The force of the spine can cause numerous problems such as disc herniation, whiplash, compression fractures, spondylisthesis, TMJ and many more.
Whiplash is particulary common injury that results from a sudden movement of the head and neck. The results can be neck muscles and ligaments with severe damage if not treated promptly. Back injuries are also common, with spinal trauma causing nerve damage that affects the rest of the body, often into the arms, hands, legs and feet.
The only way to correct misalignments in your spine is to see a chiropractor. We are trained to assess your spine, locate areas that have been forced out of alignment and make the necessary corrections according to your individual needs.
Applewood Chiropractic offers a tranquil, calming atmosphere that's the perfect place to start your healing. In our bright, open facility, you'll feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment you step in. Upon arriving to your first visit, our friendly team will be ready to welcome you, and you will be asked to complete our new patient paperwork and full medical history questionnaire. You will then consult with one of our doctors to describe your problem in detail. You will have the opportunity to express your health concerns and ask any questions that you may have. The doctor will perform a physical exam which may include orthopedic testing, reflex assessments, muscle testing, neurological tests and a specific chiropractic evaluation. If the doctor feels it is necessary to determine an exact diagnosis he may send you for an x-ray. The doctor will go over the results of the exam with you, then, depending on your situation and needs he may perform and adjustment and/or begin any needed therapies. You will receive a treatment and learn stretches and exercises you can do in the comfort of your own home. This appointment generally lasts 45-60 minutes.
Your follow up visit will take about 30 minutes. You and the doctor will discuss how you have been feeling, then proceed with a treatment. A typical treatment involves soft tissue work, stretching, mobilizations and a chiropractic adjustment, taping or rehabilitation if needed. It's tailored precisely for you, and no two appointments will necessarily be the same.
Depending on your condition, you may be scheduled a series of visits to correct your problem. It is our goal to get you to the point where we will recommend maintenance treatment once a month or every couple of months to keep your mind and body in tune.
We are currently accepting new patients at both of our wellness locations. We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule.
